30 Years Strong in Recovery
Apricity Recovery and Support Services 30 Years Strong In Recovery

Courage isn’t about having no fear. It’s about doing the next right thing, even when you’re scared.

I became an alcoholic in college, likely to cope with depression. After moving to Minneapolis post-graduation, my life fell apart in a few short years. I moved home and caused a car accident—thankfully, no one was hurt. In tears, I told the officer I needed help and asked him to tell my parents. The next day I entered residential treatment. It was the beginning of my new life.

This year I celebrate 30 years in recovery as well as with STEP Industries/Apricity. My journey is living proof that recovery is attainable – and sustainable.

Starting at STEP as a transitional employee I learned a lot about humility and that people are willing to help when they know it’s needed.

I’ve also learned a lot about change and the courage it takes to make real and lasting change. It’s not always easy, but when it’s right, it works.

Every step I took—moving home, going to treatment—felt like loss at first. But looking back, I didn’t lose anything.

I gained everything.

I hope for our clients and anyone who needs help that they’ll find the courage to take that first step. It’s so worth it.

My story shows that recovery is not only possible, but it can thrive and inspire others for decades.

Apricity wants to offer a safe place for people to be better tomorrow than they were today.

There’s help. There’s hope. People need to believe that the miracle can happen for them.
