Apricity Marks National Recovery Month with Focus on Recovery Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

Matching Gift of $35,000 Jump Starts Fundraising Campaign
As September ushers in National Recovery Month, Apricity honors the strength and resilience of individuals and families impacted by substance use disorders (SUD) in Northeast Wisconsin. This year’s theme, Recovery: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow, reflects that recovery is not a single event, but a journey one day at a time. Apricity is there to help, every step of the journey.

And people can help support the future of Apricity by donating to its annual campaign that kicks off in September.

In Wisconsin:

  • 16.5% of people meet the criteria of having a substance use disorder. However, only 6% of those receive treatment. In Outagamie County, 32,000 people have an SUD and only 2,000 of them received treatment. In Calumet County, 9.200 people have an SUD and 550 received treatment. In Winnebago County, 28,500 people have an SUD and 1,700 received treatment. And in Brown County, 45,300 people have an SUD and 2,700 received treatment.
  • The top three abused substances in Wisconsin are alcohol, marijuana, and opioids, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

“Recovery looks different every day. Some days are harder than others, and some are full of breakthroughs,” said Michelle Devine Giese, CEO of Apricity. “That’s why our support is designed for real life, not just for today, but for the future. During Recovery Month, we celebrate the people who have chosen a path in recovery and commit to walking beside them into tomorrow.”

Apricity delivers a continuum of evidence-based care: gender-specific residential treatment, recovery-supportive employment, sober living homes, and recovery coaching services.

Apricity Recovery Month With Codie With Family“When I began treatment at Apricity’s Casa Clare for women, my children stayed with family members which gave me peace of mind that they were safe,” said Codie, in recovery for more than three years who is now an Apricity staff member and certified recovery coach. “Knowing that the only way I was going to be able to reunite with my kids was successfully completing treatment really motivated me.”

At the Apricity Contract Packaging facilities in Appleton and Milwaukee, people in recovery find more than a job. They find dignity, structure, and purpose.

Apricity Recovery Month With Dan SchenkDan S. has been in recovery for two years. He went through all three levels of Apricity’s treatment program before moving to Apricity’s Sober Living and also received recovery coaching support and worked at Apricity Contract Packaging. He recently joined Apricity’s staff as Warehouse Manager. After struggling with addiction and incarceration, Dan found structure, stability, and belonging through Apricity’s programs. “I became addicted to pain killers and was homeless. Apricity helped me believe in myself again,” Dan shared. “Every day in recovery is a chance to move forward, and Apricity gave me the tools to do that.”

In addition to sharing stories of recovery during September, Apricity kicks off its annual fundraising campaign that brings awareness of gains made by those in recovery and highlights Apricity’s full range of recovery-supportive services. To catapult donations that support its four core treatment and recovery programs during Recovery Month, Apricity announces a generous matching gift challenge totaling $35,000 thanks to The Boldt Group, Fox Communities Credit Union, Green Bay Innovation Group, and U.S. Venture. All donations Apricity receives throughout September will be matched dollar for dollar up to $35,000. To donate go to https://apricity.networkforgood.com/projects/254761-recovery-month-2025. With the matching gift challenge fundraiser, friends, community partners and donors can make Recovery Month twice as successful for Apricity’s vital treatment and recovery services.
